Chris your colleague must be mistaken about how long this problem has existed.
There never was a Director v7.5.

btw:
There are other vector window display problems that occur when 
stretching any vector handle beyond the edge current window 
boundaries (autoscrolling happens & then the whole vector vanishes). 
Also then that handle can no longer be accessed, because scrolling to 
it causes the entire handle display to vanish. As far as I know this 
problem occurs on all platforms & the only workaround is to shrink 
the vector graphic (zoom it smaller), then adjust the handle however 
you want, & then zoom the whole thing larger again.
