I have been using Director for various applications that dores not include a
keyboard and/or monitor.
For instance i have been using different sensors as input devices and servo
engines as oputput.
To accomplish this together with advanced sound/MIDI/graphics I have used a
few microprocessor kits between my devices and Director. Simplest and
cheapest, and often best, I have used two different kits BasicStamp and
BasicX 24.
These are microcontrollers that are programmed in a BASIC environment and
that can communicate with a personal computer via the serial port. I connect
all kinds of input- and output devices to these micros and have Director do
lots of amazing stuff with things in the real world.
I would recommend the BasicX 24 of the two, for the better performance and
richer BASIC dialect.
