I suppose I should clarify that, as a result of my extensive experience with
the XML Parser Xtra, I do think it's lightning fast (though I am still not
in a position to objectively compare it to the speed of the XML object in
Flash 5). After all, the Xtra is just using expat to parse and a native API
to create the object reference tree. It's not a DOM implementation with all
the attendant complexities, so there no reason why it wouldn't meet your
expectations in terms of speed. But in terms of functionality, it's pretty
bare bones.
