It's ironic how the world of OS's is slowly turning back to Unix style systems, and yet people proclaim that IE is a better browser and Netscape will become a bastion of discussions with "in the day". For those individuals who only live in a Windows world, Netscape and Opera are the only worthwhile browsers that work in multiple Unix style OS's.
With the advent of OSX, IE is quite buggy and slow compared to Netscape 6 for OSX. Not to mention that both Opera and Netscape follow a handy convention called standards, you know the W3C. MS doesn't feel they need to follow the agreed upon standards of a public system. They aren't interested in the end user. They are interested in market share and being able to control the computer industry. The EMBED tag is for all practical purposes is inconsequential, but how long before JavaScript or Java or QuickTime or any non-MicroSoft technology becomes the target of the brainwashed management of MS. Remember that as developers we hold responsibility for supplying what is best for users, even if it means using non-MS technology or non-Sun technology or non-Apple technology. And if you have to supply a product that has to work on more than just MS products, which if you claim to develop for the Internet you are, then IE is in fact more of a pain and waste of time. So don't fall asleep to the incessant droning of MS, as developers we need to use what is best for users and be sure we keep some level of heterogeneous products alive.
