I'm affraid I have to concur with Stacey here.

On the last project I published we used quick time extensively. After
sifting through piles of licensing agreement forms, I learned that Apple
does not want their installer or it's licensing and registration information
tampered with. And who can blame them.

Apple has gone to great lengths to cover their butts legally from any
liability should the software you've distributed cause problems. If you
tamper with their installer you will have completely negated any chances of
foisting liablity upon Apple should their product cause any problems.

Apple's QT Distribution Agreement states:

2.1 Grant of License.
(d) Each Licnesee Program must include all files as installed by the
QuickTime Basic Installer. Licensee may not in any way interfere with the
operation of the Quicktime Basic Installer or the "QuickTime Player Alias"
generated by the QuickTime Basic Installer and may not change, move or
remove any of the files installed by the QuickTime Basic Installer

I hope this helps.
