Well, are you a mac or pc guy?

The best supported one is 3dmax in terms of bones, etc.

Being primarily a mac guy and less inclined to endure interfaces such as
Lightwave, I prefer modelling in Cinema4d -- the interface is very
intuitive and it's easy to jump into modelling. However the shockwave
exporter is a bit strange.

no matter what though, 3d is a bit of a learning curve - at least to do it
right.
