Hi
One other note:
Copying the html of a member can sometimes lead to
unexpected results.. some text formatting such as specific
indentation and tabs don't always lead to identical results
when copying the html of a member. I'm starting to think the
Director on occasion creates the html as "best"
representation of the contents of the text member. Hence for
accuracy I prefer to use the rtf of member (had a couple of
bad experiences).
When you need to duplicate a castmember, such that the new
castmember has identical width, height and all
characteristics of the original then use the media of member
as Kerry mentioned. This will replicate all properties
regardless of what has been set (saves a lot of time and
effort). It is also about the only way I know of to quickly
replicate the contents of a field from one member to another
and maintaining the format. Fields don't have an rtf or an
html property but they do have a media property.
You also have a 3rd option that is just plain too messy and
that is to copy the text and then repeat through each
character and copy its formatting.. but why waste the time
when using the above 3 methods would suffice for everything
but fields. And for the number of additional properties for
fields, such as rect and boxType, putting those two pieces
in variables and then copying the media and resetting the
properties would still be much faster and painless.
Just a couple of additional comments with respect to Kerry's
comment below. There are times that media is more useful.
Sincerely
Mark R. Jonkman
