If I may add,  its best to follow a naming convention for the variables and
strictly adhere to them while assigning values to them.
Like, pnVarName - number.
      psVarName - string.
      plVarName - list   etc.
so that life would be simpler for us as well as the poor guy who might have
to debug our code in the future. :)

Lingo is completely untyped. You don't have to declare a variable at
all--just use it. You can put a string in it on one line, and a number the
next. It's one of the things that gives Lingo a lot of flexibility, but it
also often leads to puzzling bugs.
