Jussi,

This is a very sticky situation. Autorun is set on the system level,
and as far as I know, there is no easy way to disable it. If I remember
correctly, holding down the Shift key while inserting a CD will disable
the autorun functionality. However, this puts the task on your users
and could be confusing to some. Also, I don't even know if this works
across all Os versions (95,98,NT,2000,XP). The last I checked was in
Windows 98a.

I know that the autorun setting is stored in the registry as well, and
Buddy-API should be able to set the key to disable autorun, but you
would have to reset it when your program ends. Of course if the
Director app crashed, that would never happen and might leave users
miffed.

Plus, to make things even worse, the registry keys are different across
each OS version. And, I think it requires a reboot to set in 95/98/ME.

I hate to sound so dire, but this is definitely not one of those
one-liners like: "the autoRun = false".

Hi!

Does anyone know how to prevent Media Player ( or any other default CD -
player ) from launching on run time? In my project user is supposed to
switch audio - cd:s back and forth - and it's not too nice to have Media
Player poppin' up all the time...

Cheers,
