It depends a lot on the area of the country. In West Virginia, you may
get around $25-30 per hour. In large media centers like San Francisco,
Boston, New York, you can probably charge $100/hr. or more.

That is assuming, of course, that you're talking about an experienced,
skilled Director programmer. You can't get that rate for a beginner, or
even an intermediate programmer.

Customers understand that an experienced programmer can do in an hour
what a beginner will take 2 weeks to do, so they're willing to pay the
extra for experience and skill.
