At 512K you won't have reached the 640K limit for DOS programs, so it can't be to do with that. Seriously though, I assume you mean 512MB. What might be useful to know is whether it's a Mac or a PC. If it's a Mac, then make sure you have your preferences in authoring set to use system memory.
