This week's theme: adjectives used postpositively.

regnant (REG-nuhnt) adjective

   1. Ruling (reigning, as opposed to simply having the title by marriage).

   2. Predominant; widespread.

[From Latin regnare (to reign). Ultimately from Indo-European reg-
(to move in a straight line, to lead or rule) that's also the source
of regime, direct, rectangle, erect, rectum, alert, source, and surge.]

Sit down and put down everything that comes into your head and then you're
a writer. But an author is one who can judge his own stuff's worth, without
pity, and destroy most of it. -Colette, writer (1873-1954)
