The argument against modelling is the same as that against the Y2000 bug. It was suggested that if nothing was done there would be trouble. There was no trouble so the suggestion was wrong.

That's not what happened. What happened was that something was done so there was no trouble.

The same as Covid, although some trouble did happen, but not as bad as predicted.

The sad thing is that it was the States that did something, hamstrung by the Federal government's failure to deliver vaccines in a timely manner.
