Or as the French Ambassador remarked in his recent address to the Press Club: seehttps://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-03/french-ambassador-jean-pierre-thebault-submarines/100590382
The Ambassador pointed out that France agreed to share with Australia much of the scientific/engineering knowledge of attack class submarine design - both nuclear and diesel powered.
The French are pissed off not just because of the cancellation of the contract and the dubious reasons given for the decision. They resent giving away valuable secrets to (what is now) an untrustworthy Australian government. I don't blame them.
If the reasons for tearing up the contract are true, the best option would have been to go with an unmodified version of what we originally asked for.
So now the government has annoyed the Chinese, the French and the Americans.Europe can't be too impressed either.
(What) we vote for is what we get.
