Then everyone is confused because the one I installed today has the same
logo as the ones in the news stories. It's not via a website. And you
can play more than once a day.

Oh, there are way more than two of them. Some are good, some are not,
all seem to have ads. The real one only provides one puzzle per day
which I find quite endearing. Also it stops me binge-playing. Most of
the copy-cats have an all-you-can-eat option.
Oh - and the real one can be played on anything because it's just a
website.
