The name threw me. Nancy Grace is the name of a disgraced US judge who
spouts off on I think the Fox network. I kept waiting for the punchline
about space between her ears....

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is a next-generation observatory that
will peer through dust and across vast stretches of space and time to survey
the infrared universe.
The mission will help us solve some of the most profound mysteries in
astrophysics, such as how the universe has evolved, its ultimate fate, and
whether we are alone.
Romanâs enormous view of space and fast survey speeds will allow astronomers to
observe planets by the thousands, galaxies by the millions, and stars by the
billions.
The mission also aims to help illuminate two of the biggest cosmic puzzles:
dark energy and dark matter.
Named after pioneering NASA executive Nancy Roman, known as the âMother of
Hubbleâ for helping the agency birth the legendary Hubble Space Telescope, the
new observatory will dramatically expand researchersâ ability to see and study
the cosmos.
Roman was a formidable astronomer, and the observatory that bears her name will
investigate mysteries such as whatâs causing the universe to expand and which
planets exist beyond our solar system.
