Australia has one for-profit university. The others are non-profit, but they license their IP.

Disagreements over IP ownership are common at universities, and elsewhere, with spun off companies, as well as when key staff leave.

ps: I visited Cambridge University to see how innovation was handled and discovered they had not worked out the IP ownership, despite being in the business for hundreds of years. Their approach seemed to be creative ambiguity. Here is one article on an IP dispute at the university, from a disgruntled staff member: https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/expropriation.html
