It never was about "saving journalism". It has always been about transferring money from Google, Facebook, etc to Rupert Murdoch. None of the smaller, independent newspapers got a cent from the Murdoch Tax, only the Murdoch-owned press and, incidentally, a few other *large* newspaper corporations[1]. And even if the smaller papers did get paid too, it still wouldn't "save journalism". The notion of having to pay to link to another site on the web - which was designed around and for exactly that, that's what the "web" in the name is referring to - is both absurd and obscene. [1] BTW, note the distinction between "corporations" and "journalism" or "journalists". Corporations get the money. They're not required to spend it on any of that expensive journalism nonsense. craig _______________________________________________ Link mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/link
