That takes me back! When I first set up the link list I ran it manually as
an alias on a Sun unix workstation. It got too big too fast (over 600
members). Mailman then was a radical new idea! I'm not up with all the
options that are available now...

Ah, the days of Sun Sparc Stations! My first decent computer to play with
(these boxes are still in use today by military air traffic controllers, would
you believe?).
Mailman has barely changed for many years, but especially so at ANU. It?s
shuffled off into a distant corner of a dark server room.
Warmly

Yes, good times .. well remember in early 90's, was given a remote admin
login to the online Monash VAX for my masters. At home & from curiosity,
telnetting into ANU library .. the long way around. Fifteen uni-library jumps
via VAX commands, around the world, and back. The trip took 40 seconds.
But gentlemen, our Link ANU machine settings are now wobbly and failing.
At the very least, we need a Mailman service. To my knowledge 3 or 4 folks,
including myself, have been turfed off the list. We have lost a number folks,
not even mentioning what Link is continually doing to our apostrophies :-(
It's waay beyond me, and I expect perhaps also beyond current ANU techies?
We need to do something soon dear ladies and gents, or else link won't link?
Ideas ppl?
Cheers and respects all,
Stephen :)
