I've always said that Hollywood has much to answer for on the use of
Fingerprint scanners as an authenticator. They are far too easy to fool
(even mythbusters did an episode on this). A fingerprint scanner, at
best, has a use as an identifier (eg replacement for a login name or
some such), but not as an authenticator.
