Heh, I've just spent the last 15 minutes or so reading the Whirlpool threads on the smaller model from August's sale. It's come down $10 in price since then. I figure I'll buy one and try it out. Hopefully Bauhn has addressed some of the problems since then. I'm not interested in the 10". I'm after something a bit smaller in the hand. The other thing I found out is that there is a non-SIM model coming out first week in Dec with 16Gb for $129. Good point about the OS matched to the device. I guess it really doesn't matter as long as the apps work in the environment. I'm trying to get my head around how these things work, like installing anything. I'm so used to Windows file management, these different methods are a mystery. But I'm sure I'll figure it out. I have a copy of Bluestacks on this laptop, just to see what the fuss around Angry Birds was. I figure the other 'stores' work pretty much the same way - point and click and pay. ;-) I stopped in JB HiFi this week and took a look at their ebook readers and tablets. No contest. Colour is a must and if you're going to pay that price for colour, may as well get a multipurpose device. Plus I'm not out in the sun, so backlit is the way to go, I reckon. I liked my netbook a lot, but even that's a bit clunky and is quite slow.
