You are actually better off getting a dumb tv and add a media box pc that you manage yourself and run anything you like. Apart from the minor issue of them spying on you, smart tvs suffer the usual problems of embedded hardware, not expandable, not enough memory, no disk, nonstandard, one size fits all applications, etc.
