GovHack is an annual event run by volunteers, many of whom are public servants, to promote open data. Teams compete to build applications using data supplied by government. There are prizes from government and business. Here is the report on last year's event: http://www.govhack.org/govhack-2013-report-how-the-beast-went-national/ GovHack 2013 was followed by GovCamp Canberra, where the results were presented to senior public servants in an effort to promote open data to them: http://www.govcampau.org/ The Open Knowledge Foundation Network Australia (OKFNau) was spun off GovHack/Camp to further the promotion of open Data: http://au.okfn.org/ -- Tom Worthington FACS CP, TomW Communications Pty Ltd. t: 0419496150 The Higher Education Whisperer http://blog.highereducationwhisperer.com/ PO Box 13, Belconnen ACT 2617, Australia http://www.tomw.net.au Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Research School of Computer Science, Australian National University http://cs.anu.edu.au/courses/COMP7310/ _______________________________________________ Link mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/link
