I was interviewed on ABC News Radio Monday morning, about reports of the German Chancellor's proposal for a European Internet to stop US eavesdropping: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-26210053
I said a European Internet would be more expensive and ineffective. Those who traditionally spy on the Germans are the French. ;-) More seriously, Europe tends to have higher data charges, so US services are used by Europeans. Individuals could help by encrypting their own data (which will slow down, but not stop eavesdropping) and check where the organisations they do business with store their data. -- Tom Worthington FACS CP, TomW Communications Pty Ltd. t: 0419496150 The Higher Education Whisperer http://blog.highereducationwhisperer.com/ PO Box 13, Belconnen ACT 2617, Australia http://www.tomw.net.au Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Research School of Computer Science, Australian National University http://cs.anu.edu.au/courses/COMP7310/ _______________________________________________ Link mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/link
