I've had two email returned advisories where my address has been spoofed (see below). I can't figure out the the motivation for this. There was an embedded link in the message (no I didn't click on it), but the whole email aspect is fake. What is the payoff to the sender?
Jan pS: I did have my email hacked about a month ago, for real, so I'm careful to look at the headers now to see if it has happened again. Doesn't appear to be in this case as it's not originating from my email server. >Received: from p02c12m063.mxlogic.net (208.65.145.245) by > addmailhost.addmarketing.com (172.20.26.5) with Microsoft SMTP Server id > 8.2.255.0; Wed, 9 Jul 2014 01:51:49 -0400 >Authentication-Results: p02c12m063.mxlogic.net; spf=none >Received: from unknown [77.227.217.66] (EHLO > din-66-217-227-77.ipcom.comunitel.net) by > p02c12m063.mxlogic.net(mxl_mta-8.0.0-2) with ESMTP id > 578dcb35.0.1349458.00-2236.2450427.p02c12m063.mxlogic.net (envelope-from > <jw...@janwhitaker.com>); Tue, 08 Jul 2014 23:51:49 -0600 (MDT) >Received: from 10.0.1.45 ([10.0.1.45]) >Message-ID: <7526EA49D93D4EAFAEB04FA903BB6C01@m0005673452srv> >From: Sophya <jw...@janwhitaker.com> >To: Jacobo <rp_li...@addmarketing.com> >Subject: Do u want to know me? >Date: Wed, 9 Jul 2014 05:51:58 +0000 Melbourne, Victoria, Australia jw...@janwhitaker.com Twitter: JL_Whitaker JL Whitaker "On A Life's Edge" - US Amazon print and digital http://www.amazon.com/On-Lifes-Edge-J-Whitaker/dp/1499787154/ Australia Amazon: ebook only http://www.amazon.com.au/Lifes-Edge-J-Whitaker-ebook/dp/B00KYW2YA8/ and other Kindle sites around the world.
