Geez, I hope not.

There's much to be learned from research into nuclear energy. For that reason alone, research should continue. Nuclear power, on the other hand, has failed. It's proved far too costly (and not only in dollar terms). Much as the industry likes to deny that nuclear power generation has never harmed anyone, we'll probably never know the full toll of ill-health and death.

Meanwhile, the planet is awash with energy. We have but to harvest what we need. With the speed of development in renewables and storage, if we began building a conventional nuclear power reactor today, it would probably be obsolete before it came online (not to mention, if it ran true to form, many years late and many times over budget).

There are very good reasons why neither the finance industry nor the insurance industry will support nuclear power. The verdict of the market is clear; nuclear power is dead. Let the poor thing rest in peace.
