Ahh, I do appreciate a good pedant with an appreciation of proper English usage.

Tom, would you please tutor the ABC news room?  I cringe every time I hear 
Juanita brightly report some politician "refuted" an accusation when they did 
nothing of the sort, they probably "denied" it in a torrent of rhetoric.  And I 
suppose "decimate" will not be restored to its correct meaning "any time soon".

Even the ABC article about the laser work at Stromlo referred to "the amount of 
pieces in orbit" instead of the "number of pieces".

Hurrumph!!
