Satellite Internet, I suggest, will remain a niche application.
There are not many places in the world where there are enough people
with money to pay for a satellite service to mobile devices, but not a
terrestrial wireless service.
There is a history of satellite phone ventures failing, as they could
not find enough paying customers. Iridium launched about 66 satellites,
but had to be rescued from bankruptcy.

Orbcomm provide an interesting data service, for low data rate,
non-real-time applications. As a result they need fewer satellites.
