Telstra sent me an email to say "From 22 April 2020, you’ll no longer be able to make or receive voice calls using your mobile broadband service."

What I did not understand was why I could *ever* receive calls on what was meant to be a data only service. My data-only USB wireless modem has been filling up with SMS messages, saying I had missed calls, and Medicare wanted me to call them for a refund.

This is a device I never use for voice calls, and never have given anyone the number for. But enterprising scammers still managed to call and send spammy text messages. Good to see Telstra will save them the bother of trying to contact me this way. ;-)
