All the problems which I described in my former posts were caused by the
fact, that Linphone seems to be "ALSA-oriented". When I made a try with ALSA
drivers, at last I can normally use Linphone - although nothing but drivers
were changed. So, there were no problems neither with firewall settings, nor
with the proxy server settings of the service provider.

Not just the sound system choice is important - I noticed, that even with
ALSA, some sound cards (f.e. ESS1868-based ones) seem to be unusable with
both Linphone and / or Skype.

Not being a system programmer, I can't understand the reasons. Other
applications (including the sound recorders - f.e. the simplest "rec" utility)
are using that souncards quite normally.
