Garry, My icon problem on Ubuntu was resolved when I deleted the linphone.desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications.
The personalized desktop file, which takes precedence over the system-wide desktop file, is not updated when installing a new version. The local file probably has a reference to an old icon name or location. I had this problem when updating to 3.3.1. On debian it works. In 3.3.x versions a new icon is used.
