I find it hard to believe that Fedora 12 does not have libraries for
H263 and H264 video codecs.

Package x264-0.0.0-0.27.20091109git3daa02e.fc12.i686 already installed
and latest version
I personally think it is Linphone that does not see the codecs.
So my question: how do I get the H263 & H264 codecs for Linphone ?

Apparently your distribution is not up-to-date. You can update it or
get the packages from another source. Or download the sources for
