I did what you do and encounter the same result but one thing I want to check: did you see that in Linphone, contact "Cccc Dddd" is still there? Eg. in Linphone merged contacts are shown as 2 separates contacts, at least in iOS9 (I think it was already the case earlier though). If you can see that, then I guess there is no iOS 9 regression here - merged contact was just never supported and Apple is not helping a lot on that, since they are providing an old plain-C API to handle contacts.
