Hi Stefano,

have you tried disabling “adaptive rate control”?

Go to options->settings->multimedia settings and uncheck “enable adaptive
rate control”.

That should do it!

I’ve made extensive tests of music streaming at high bitrates and I’ve never
encountered your problem. The only “problem” I have is that linphone doesn’t
seem to support stereo audio input...

Spero di esserti stato d’aiuto.

Michele

Oggetto: [Linphone-users] Decreasing audio quality over time

I have tried to play a song using Linphone 3.9.1 on a Windows 8.1 towards a
remote computer on the same local area network (Gigabit Network).

No matter what codec I choose, the quality of the music decreases over time.
If I pause and resume the call, the audio quality is good in the beginning
and then it gets worse again.

I monitored the data traffic and could observe that the bitrate starts at
approx. 50kbps and slowly decreases to 25kbps. As soon as the bitrate starts
to decrease, the quality gets worse.

What could be the reason for the decreasing bitrate? As already mentioned, I
am on a Gigabit network and there is only one Switch between the two Windows
machines. There is no other traffic on the network that could influence the
transmission.

I did the same test on two Windows 7 machines, unfortunately with the same
result.

Am I the only one having this issue?

Please find attached a wireshark capture.

Cheers
