Hi All, Linrad-02.21 is now uploaded. This version is tested under a large number of distributions and the code for the ft245 kernel module that is needed for the SDR-14 is supplied in several versions. The configure script generates a Makefile that selects the correct version of ft245.c
This is a clumsy solution, it must be possible to put some conditional statements in the C code to make it look different to different kernel versions and keep just a single file for ft245.c. If there is anyone on this list who would like to do such changes I would be grateful. It seems to me that the kernel structure is changing rapidly now. Presumably the support for multiprocessor systems forces many structural changes and it would be a good idea to not have to add many more slightly different versions of ft245.c The test of different distributions is here: http://www.sm5bsz.com/linuxdsp/install/distrib.htm As you can see the ft245 driver does not work under Mandrake/Mandriva. If anyone knows how to correct the ft245 driver I would be happy to correct this. The svgalib_helper module works on all tested distributions except Suse 9.2. This is a slightly modified version of svgalib-1.9.25 which you can download from the above site. -- 0 -- Linrad has make commands to install scripts that install kernel modules at boot time. This is done by adding scripts to ......../rc3.d and ....../rc5.d This is not the way that Linux developers want it done - but I do not know how to do it properly. It works well however except in the latest Suse distributions where the scripts do not get executed. One has to install the scripts manuallt by typing "svga start" and/or "usb_sdr14 start" in the Linrad directory. The scripts use mknod and insmod but this is presumably not the modern way..... -- 0 -- Any help to make kernel module management more future safe would be welcome:-) 73 Leif / SM5BSZ ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <linrad@antennspecialisten.se>.
