It seems your version of nasm is very modern. I downloaded nasm-0.99.01 and indeed I see the same error. I think it is a bug in nasm. Maybe the new nasm wants some compiler directive in order to generate multimedia extension code. The solution is to install nasm-0.98.39 (or older.)
