If you are a long time VM user and familiar with it, you may not like the restrictions that SAF puts on you. If you need similar functionality there are lots of other vendor tools on the market. Check out the vendor software page on the IBM Linux for zSeries web site.
On the other hand managing a handful of penguins may not be too bad, when you get into dozens, then an admin tool could be helpful.
