We're on Suse Linux 7.0 and we just created a swapfile on a separate disk as
'/mnt/dasdb1/swap/swapfile' and activate it ok with 'swapon
/mnt/dasdb1/swap/swapfile'. 'swapoff -s' shows that the swap file is active
so we add an entry to '/etc/fstab' as '/mnt/dasdb1/swap/swapfile swap swap
defaults 0 2' to make it permanent. After the ipl, we checked but the swap
file did not come active so we issued the swapon command manually, and it
came active. The procedure to add swap files is documented in the 'SuSE
Linux 7.0 installation, Networking, Know how' manual (page 38-39). Does
anyone know why the swap file doesn't come active after ipl? Thanks.
