Under VM, the standard way to start guests is to add XAUTOLOG commands to
AUTOLOG1's PROFILE EXEC.

For shutdown, you have to roll your own. We have a SHUTDOWN EXEC on OPERATOR
that starts an orderly shutdown of assorted service machines and Linux
guests, in combination with a special userid called AUTOSHUT.
