We have a LINUX running in LPAR mode with an OSA--E as the only network
interface.
We looking into bringing zVM to run it in the LPAR and, then, run
multiple LINUX images underneath it.
I have a couple of question, being new to VM and OSA-E;
1) What's the best way to set up the network for the LINUX and VM images?
(I am assuming that letting zVM "own" the NIC and passing packets would
be
better than each images owning a piece of the OSA-E, if this is
incorrect, please let me know)
     a) As a "spoke" as illustrated in the Redpaper "Building Linux Systems
under IBM VM" by Simon Williams using proxyarp (the example uses an
OSA-2, but I think proxyarp will work with an OSA-E)
     b) using a guest LAN

2) During migration to the best way; Can my current LINUX image share the
OSA-E with zVM?
And, if yes, how? I can't seem to find an example of sharing a OSA-E
in the books.
I have seen the warnings about the need for both OS to specify
portname. But,
for example, if LINUX is using address x00,x01,x02; does zVM need to
specify
a different address on the DEVICE statement.

Thanks for your indulgence of my newbie questions,
Sterling
