William, I recently had been doing some research for a z900 upgrade at one of my customers and when I saw your postings knew I had seen a Washington Systems Center flash on this topic. Please see WSC Flash 10119 "OSA-Express Maintenance in a LINUX Environment". Although you have been assured of no PORTNAME issues and have successfully used the failing OSA, this flash is such a strong match I would re-verify this topic.
