Ana, Yes, there is a php-mysql module. For RedHat at ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/rawhide/1.0/s390/RedHat/RPMS/php-mysql-4.0.6-7.s390. rpm. This is for PHP4 and I don't know much about the ThinkBlue distro.
