Hi Maciej,
I Ipled the CD of SuSE 7.0, Kernel 2.2.16 from an SE and also from an HMC
and that part went just fine.
But once IPLed, I had to remove the CD from the reader of the HMC and load
it someplace else.
One time we did copy all the installation directories to an MVS LPAR under
USS and used the FTP Server of this MVS LPAR. Ran great.
Another time, at a different account, I used my ThinkPad I booted with the
CD #1 of this package and used my ThinkPad as a Linux NFS Server which
also ran fine.
I think the important point here is that, once the Ramdisk Install Kernel
is started, the installation directories/files must be accessed from this
Basic Mode/LPAR Kernel being the client to an appropriate FTP/NFS/SMB
Server through a network adapter used by this IPLed Kernel.
Hope this helps.

Subject: SEW - weird behavior
Hello everybody,
Though my question does not concern Linux directly, the problem occurred
during Linux installation so I thought I was allowed to ask here anyway...
My SEW (or HMC) is a PC running OS/2 WARP system. I have configured its
network interfaces (it has two).
I can connect without any problems to my FTP server where I store my
RedHat distirbution when using standard OS/2 ftp client. However when I
try to point that same server to HMC's "Load from CD-ROM or Server --> FTP
Source" dialog box a message appears which says that the host specified
cannot be accessed (IQZB106).
I tried to ping the FTP server from HMC's "Network Configuration" (sorry,
can't remmeber the exact name of that tool) and it worked. Why the
installation tool cannot access it ?
Does anyone have a clue what is wrong ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Maciek
