Hello List,

we are in the process of evaluating Linux/Samba on VM/z900 as a solution for
a fileserver consolidation.

We are using the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server for s390 with a vanilla 2.4.7,
patched with the IBM s390 patches and the ext2-ACL patches from
acl.bestbits.at.

After some problems, that setup is running now. But we still have some
problems left:

-We would like to use samba 2.2.3a for its improved winbindd, but it is not
compiling with the standard configure options plus --with-acl-support. Has
someone successfully compiled samba 2.2.3a? If so, I would be glad to hear.
By the way, samba 2.2.2 is compiling and running smoothly with ACLs, but I
am afraid of the famous memory leak of winbindd.

-E2fsck (version 1.24) gives us an error during filesystem check, something
equal to "wrong filetype". Anyone heard of that? E2fsck is going to correct
that, but the next filesystem check will bring the same error on any file
touched in the meantime.

If someone has a hint or tip, I would be grateful to hear. I am not on site
at the moment, so I could give more exact descriptions of the errors
tomorrow. I will also go and post that on samba-technical and acl-devel
tomorrow.

Best Regards,
Goetz
