SIZE390 Support Program
SIZE390 provides pre-sale processor sizing estimates to IBM sales reps and
business partners for zSeries and S/390 processors running z/OS or OS/390
for the following e-business applications and strategic workloads:
DB2 BI data warehouse online query
WCS (WebSphere CommerceSuite) under combination of Linux & z/OS
Domino mail & calendaring
UNIX cross platform comparison and server consolidation onto zSeries
IBM HTTP Server and WebSphere Application Server.
In addition, SIZE390 is beginning to provide pre-sale sizing estimates for
Linux. Currently, we can provide estimates for the following:
WCS (WebSphere CommerceSuite) under combination of Linux and z/OS
SAMS (Sendmail Advanced Mail Server) - the commercial version of
Sendmail
Linux server consolidations onto zSeries when Linux work is
currently
running on another platform.
As performance data becomes available in 2002, we plan to provide sizing
estimates for the following Linux application environments:
Program development/compile/test playpen
Samba file/print serving
Apache webserving
Websphere Application Server.
If sufficient performance data becomes available, we may also provide
sizing support for DB2 BI data warehouse and Domino mail & calendaring
under Linux in 2002.
SIZE390 is designed to provide technical marketing support to IBMers and
business partners (not customers) to sell the appropriate zSeries or S/390
processor model; it is not intended to be a capacity planning service to
customers or to provide e-business application design support. We expect
to work primarily with large systems reps and e-business sales reps with
some knowledge of zSeries and S/390 processors.
TechXpress is the primary point of contact for SIZE390 support for IBM
field reps. To submit a request for SIZE390 assistance, go to the
following URL:

Business partners can request SIZE390 support through PartnerLine.
PartnerLine will access the TechXpress website and submit the SIZE390
request for the business partner.
Complete the website form requesting technical support. Please choose the
appropriate geography from the "Geographic Area" field; if not in Latin
America, please disregard the "Country Code" field. Be sure to provide
the
customer's name and location and a brief statement of the type of sizing
you want, for z/OS or for Linux on zSeries. It is vitally important to
indicate that a sizing is being requested. To make this clear, use the
key
word "SIZE390" in the section headed "Description of Opportunity &
Technical Sales Support Skill Required".
Press "Submit" to submit the sizing request. TechXpress will receive the
request and send back the most up-to-date sizing questionnaire for the
type
of sizing that you indicated. It is important not to use old sizing
questionnaires since they tend to be improved frequently. Once you have
filled in the requested information, return the questionnaire to
TechXpress
at: ATSRC/Dallas/Contr/IBM@IBMUS (for IBMers) or [EMAIL PROTECTED] (for
business partners). TechXpress will forward the sizing request with the
questionnaire to all appropriate SIZE390 responders, depending on
geography
and type of sizing. The SIZE390 responder will contact you as necessary
for additional information, and will send you the final estimate in a
Lotus
note.
