We have found it very stable (and easy to work with). It's as/more reliable as any of the other network drivers, and it supports broadcast/multicast on multiple gig Ethernet adapters without problem. It also allows much higher connection density in terms of number of interfaces supported. > 2. Has anybody any experience of the direct Linux to OSA - Express ? Works well, although the performance is not as good as the same adapter driven by z/OS or z/VM. It's also a complete black box (the drivers are still OCO for the gig Ethernet card and the FE card in QDIO mode) so debugging of problems can be somewhat difficult. Of the two, I prefer the CIP driver. The CIP driver is somewhat higher overhead and not as fast, but is much richer in function and interface diversity (the broadcast piece is somewhat crucial if you plan to do a lot of Samba work, although there are ways around it). -- db
