Hello there,
I'm building a set of 4 Linux LPAR images on a Multprise 3000. One of the
images is connected to the rest of the network thru a ethernetcard, we
call it the router image. The other three are linked to the router image
using escon channels.
On one of the three other images I'm setting up Samba. But since Samba and
the SMB protocol uses broadcast to provide some of the functionality I
need to get these onto the network.
The first problem I had is that I had to change the netmask for the escon
channel from 255.255.255.255 to 255.255.254.0 (in my case). This is
described on the Turbolinux website.
But still there is something missing. When I try to lookup the ip adres of
a Windows server on the Samba image (using nmblookup) I get no response,
and since this is done using broadcast this means that they are not
getting out.
Connections not using broadcasts already works, e.g. I can telnet in,
connect to webserver on image.
Has anyone here already setup something simular, or could help me with
this.
