When connecting to localhost, you are connecting from your linux system?
Or when you said localhost, was that a euphamism for the actual hostname?

If your alias is

Alias /netsaint/ /usr/local/netsaint/share/

Then
http://localhost/netsaint
will yeild different results than
http://localhost/netsaint/
