I am trying to install Red Hat Linux 7.2 in an LPAR of S/390. I am using an
OSA Express card but it is defined as OSE. I am getting the error no lcs
module found SIOCSIFADDR: No such device, etc.... I am not sure I am
entering the correct information for the question Please enter any
parameters you need to pass to the channel device layer. This includes the
I/O ports of your ctc, escon and lcs devices. I am not sure what to enter
here. No matter what I enter I get the same error. I have updated the parm
file with LCS=0x1E04,0 and I still get the question requiring a response.

I have installed SuSe Linux into the partition using the same OSA card, port
and address that I want to use for SuSe and the lcs modules load fine. I
see some information "Adding OCO modules to the Installation Program" in the
readme file that says IBM provides some kernel networking drivers not as
Open Source, but only as proprietary, binary modules that can be loaded into
one specific version of the Linux kernel. These are called OCO drivers. It
goes on to say where they can be downloaded, how to link into the kernel,
and warnings about the level of support Red Hat will not provide if you do
this.

What kind of information is Red Hat expecting at the Please enter any
parameters you need to pass to the channel device layer? Do I need to deal
with these OCO modules if I install Red Hat linux in an S/390 LPAR? I was
hoping this would be an easy do.
