Mats,

The logger command is available on Red Hat also, as part of the
util-linux-2.11f-9 package. The question I have is, do you just want the
message to go to the console of the Linux/390 guest, or do you want it to go
somewhere else so that automation can pick it up? If the latter, then,
either the hcp command, or Neale's recommendation to turn on VM's syslog
facility would be more useful.

Subject: send messages to vm console

In SuSE it was possible to send a message from linux to the VM console with
the logger command
e.g. "logger -p kern.crit message"
Do anyone know if there is a way to write to the vm console from RedHat
without using the hcp command.
